Bring your vision to life with an Embodied North Star

In this blog post I want to explain a bit how I usually begin my work with people who join my 1on1 embodiment coaching.

Most people that come to me have a longing for a more embodied version of themselves. A few examples: staying connected to the body wisdom when going about one’s work and day, being more in touch with one’s own feelings in general and/or when being surrounded by other people, feeling more confident, authentic and at ease in all situations of life.

Another area I support clients with is to feel more embodied in their individual contribution in life: identifying a vision through their body wisdom, bringing a passion to life the embodied way, feeling empowered and embodied confidence to step with both feet into what has been calling them.

These are very different aspirations. Yet they all have a few things in common: being in deeper connection with self and the body’s inner guidance system, feeling trust in one’s own capacities and authentic voice and knowing how to return to one’s own inner wisdom when limiting beliefs, worries and self-doubt arise.

It all comes down to three core questions:

How to establish a deeper connection to self and my body intelligence?

How to build trust in my embodied knowing?

How to gain resilience to face any limiting beliefs?

It all starts with an Embodied North star

Now, where do we start on to this journey of embodying more of your desired self? The way I work with my clients is by starting with a vision. Together we look into how the desired embodied version of You looks and especially how it F E E L S like. What are the sensations when you show up this way? How do you hold yourself? How do you move, act and behave in the world?

This is not a mental and cognitive exercise, it is a feeling journey towards the felt experience of your vision. A sensing in, an allowing the inner wisdom to emerge, a surrendering to what is already there yet has maybe been covered for a while. Sometimes there are no words to describe the tangible visceral experience of your vision as it is emerging. However, your body will know, your sensory system will know, you will know from an embodied perspective the felt experience of it all.

This is what I call an Embodied North Star. Together we work on identifying this feeling, rooting it into your cells and allowing it to sink into every corner of your being.

Your Embodied North becomes your guiding light

Once you know your Embodied North Star it turns into your guidance and marks the way forward. Which in a way is a paradox because it is already here. All you need to do from here on is to follow your inner guidance system of your Embodied North Star whenever possible.

However, life is not always a pretty line of events, right? And especially when it comes to embodying a higher version of ourselves we are likely to bump into the inner critic, self-doubts and limiting beliefs at some point. This is absolutely normal and part of the journey.

With the help of an Embodied North Star you know where to return to. In the work with my clients, we take sufficient time to identify and embed practices and tools of various kinds in your life so that you easily can return to the experience of your Embodied North Star. And again: feeling is the key, not thinking or remembering the concept of it all.

Practice a return, a sinking in, a receiving of your Embodied North Star for long enough and your body chemistry as well as the neurons in the brain will adapt accordingly. Until one day it feels natural and normal. In other words: until one day it is embodied.

Your Embodied North Star will help you to navigate challenging situations. It will support you in times of doubt. It will guide your way if you feel off track. And I am here to support you and bring you back to your inner guidance should you get lost along the way.

The importance of feeling and the subconscious mind

Learning to feel deeply is one of the core aspects of this work. Not all of us feel comfortable with feeling, there may even be a fear of getting in touch with our deeper feelings. As someone who had to teach myself the art of feeling, I totally understand this fear – especially if we do not know what we are getting ourselves into.

That is why I work closely with my clients on any fear that may be here and we identify and practice self-regulation tools for any overwhelming sensations. Part of my embodiment work is to develop the capacity of the nervous system. So that we can hold space for more over time and feel increasing confidence in meeting all of the feeling world.

And what about those limiting beliefs?

Limiting beliefs are rooted in the subconscious mind. They usually come with a certain pattern of behavior which at its root cause has a memory early on in our life. This pattern was helpful and maybe even life-saving at some point. However, if we do not look at it consciously it may still be running the show today – despite us being in a totally different life situation.

Embodiment coaching covers a careful investigation of subconscious beliefs and patterns in combination with what I call the Embodied North Star. Together, we will identify any limiting beliefs and support your system in letting go as we hold them against the Embodied North Star.

Tune in with your Embodied North Star right now

Whether you desire to be more in tune with your feelings or long to feel fully embodied with your contribution in the world, an Embodied North Star is the foundation for the way forward. That is how we walk The Embodied Path.

What if your Embodied North Star was already here, right now?

Take a moment, take a deep breath, maybe close your eyes…

And tune into your vision, whatever it is you desire.

Imagine it to already be a reality.

Stay with that for a few moments and notice what arises.

What are the sensations in your body?

How is your mind shifting?

How are you holding yourself?

Once you are ready open your eyes and look around you:

How are you looking at the world from this place?

How does the world appear in front of you?

How do you feel about interacting with the world from here?

Feel, let thoughts aside.

Sense it in your bones.

Feel it in your tissues.

Let it breathe in your cells.

Stay with it as long as it feels good and allow your entire being to adjust to this new version of you.

What arose in you? What could you notice? If you have a minute leave a comment below! I would love to hear about your experience!
